Icelandic horses depicted in their natural habitat of a thousand years
Brought along by the Vikings during early settlement, Icelandic horses have been roaming the island for over a thousand years. They spend large parts of the year outside and are as much a part of the landscape as the landscape is a part of them. To this day, they remain uniquely independent, social and resilient.
This series is an ode to a remarkable horse breed that has helped shape the history of their country like few others.
Most of the images are results of spending long days with equines in their pastures, sometimes having searched for hours, and waiting for the right moment to present itself.
